What Do I Need to Do to Adopt a Cat?
1. Complete and Submit a Cat Adoption Application-Contract: This form is available online on our Forms Page and at any adoption location. If you are a renter, you must include written approval from your landlord with your application. Please note that we generally do not adopt to students due to the likelihood of the cat being returned or abandoned as students move or complete their studies.
2. Telephone Interview: Our volunteer adoption coordinator will contact you to conduct a telephone interview.
3. Onsite Appointment: An appointment will be scheduled with a volunteer adoption counselor at the cattery.
4. Complete Additional Paperwork: Finalize the adoption by completing additional paperwork, including microchip registration, adoption location release forms, and reviewing the medical history and tips for introducing your new cat to your home.
5. Payment: Full payment is required and can be made by cash, check, or credit/debit card.
6. Prepare for Your New Cat: While your paperwork is being processed, you can shop for necessary items such as food, dishes, a comfy bed, toys, a litter box, litter, a carrier, and a scratching post.
7. Receive Adoption Folder: Your adoption folder will include your new cat’s medical record, microchip registration, adoption application and contract, release papers, overview information.
8. Share the News: If you agree, a photo of you and your new cat will be taken and posted on our Facebook page to celebrate your adoption.
9. Take Your New Cat Home: Your new cat will be carefully placed into your carrier (or a cardboard carrier we can provide if necessary), and you can begin your life together.
Thank you for adopting a rescued animal from Ragdoll Rescue Connection Home.
If, for any reason, you can no longer keep your promise to be a forever guardian for your cat, please contact us before taking any action. We would prefer to bring the cat back into our program.
